The Montreux Jazz festival, which was first held in 1967, soon became the World’s Jazz Mecca along the shores of Lake Geneva. Its extensive program includes jazz, blues, rock, and pop. The 2018 Swiss jazz lineup will feature special performances by Elton John, Massive Attack, Deep Purple, Iggy Pop, Ellen Alien, Gary Clark Jr., The Vaccines, and other world-famous musicians. This festival also offers free concerts, live music cruises across the lake, international music competitions, various workshops, and much more.

Open-air Frauenfeld

Hip-hop vibes in Thurgau

Open-air Frauenfeld is an annual hip-hop music festival that takes place in city of Frauenfeld. It is widely considered to be the largest open-air festival in Switzerland, and the largest hip-hop event in Europe. It was first held 1985 as an urban and hip-hop music fest (originally named as “Out in the Green Festival”). In 2007, the name was changed to Open-air Frauenfeld. Some of the top artists such as Eminem, J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Migos, Skepta, and French Montana will perform at Open-air Frauenfeld from 5 to 7 July 2018.

The Moon and Stars Festival in Locarno features top stars from the music world. This annual music event takes place in the Piazza Grande. Rita Ora, James Arthur, Milky Chance, Scorpions, Sunrise Avenue, and Sara Connor will perform in front of 70,000 spectators. Nine days of nonstop pop and rock music will blow up your mind.

Paléo Festival Nyon

A “must-see” in Vaud

Paléo Festival is the biggest outdoor event in Switzerland. It was held for the first time in Nyon in 1976, and is held there annually. Over the course of 6 days, this event attracts top celebrities, more than 250 shows, and 250,000 music lovers. Paléo unites all styles of music: rock, French chanson, alternative, indie rock, hip-hop, rap. Street food is also available at every corner. The lineup for 2018 include The Killers, Gorillaz, Depeche Mode, Lenny Kravitz, Kaleo, Emir Kusturitca, The No Smoking Orchestra, and many other world’s musical stars.
