Murten is a small medieval town in Canton of Fribourg, located in Western Switzerland. Once a year it is lighted up with colorful lanterns and magic illumination of the buildings. Mystery and beauty come to the city sparking the faces of its citizens and guests with happiness and joy.

David, a friend of SUISSEPIC visited Murten, during Light Festival and shared his pictures.

This year the Festival was held since 17th to 28th January. Its territory was spread from the banks of the Lake Morat to the Old Town. Spectacular medieval scenes, pictures and video projections created by French art enterprise “Spectaculaires” appeared on the walls of buildings of old Town Of Murten.

To engage the guests and citizens of Murten the organizers of the Festival offered everybody to bring their own lams to install in the Old Town. The initiative helped to attract the attention to the energy consumption.

But the most impressive part of the event was held at the Lake, where everybody could launch lumiere ships. Everybody could bring a self-made lamp to the bank and put it into sailing from 18 to 21 every night and make a wish of peace, love and happiness.
