Switzerland is a wine-producing country. One discovers that by chance visiting Geneva area. The Swiss wines are not exported, 98% of them are consumed domestically. Swiss cantons cultivate more than 240 varieties of grapes. All cantons have at least a few vineyards, but only 4 of them are responsible for two-thirds of all wine production. Among them Valais, Vaud, Geneva, and Ticino. Chasselas, Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Merlot are the kings as they represent almost 72% of the total volume.

Before visiting Switzerland I had no idea about wine production in this country. Like the lake which is on fire during Swiss autumn mysterious sunsets the taste of the wine is smooth and soft with the accents after you drink it.
