Vaud

Vaud is a third biggest canton in Switzerland. It is located in the French-speaking part of the country.

Its main cities are Nyon, Lausanne, Montreux. Vaud hosts the biggest number of international sporting organisations including the International Olympic Committe situated in Lausanne.

The canton of Vaud borders with France and Swiss cantons of Geneva, Neuchâtel, Fribourg, Berne and Valais.

Vaud is one of the biggest wine-producing cantons in Switzerland. It keeps winemaking traditions since the Roman empire. Mostly the grapes are grown in the picturesque area of Lavaux, 830 ha of terraced vineyards protected by the UNESCO.
